  This is the worst bank going. You can't reach the branch and it asks you for an account number 100 times before putting you through to a person on their 800 number. You ask for the safety deposit box hours and they give you the branch hours which should be the same as the box but are not. They have limited hours you can get to the box, they make everything hard. They also do business with terrorists. If you can bank elsewhere I would suggest it, just to save your piece of mind.

  After paying our mortgage with 2 separate checks for almost 10 years, the teller refused to take the payment that way. The manager came over and backed her up saying it was the bank's policy. She also said they lose money on transactions that way with no explanation to back that claim up. So I called HSBC mortgage customer help line, they said they're aware of no such policy. Another branch a few blocks away had no problem accepting two checks and also isn't aware of this policy. I called the manager and she was stubborn saying that is the policy and the others just aren't aware of it, and refuses to take 2 checks from us in the future. A terrible experience and an obstinate manager. Why would you treat your customers this way over such a trivial thing - especially after 10 years of ontime payments? It is a huge red flag for me. We will stay away from this branch and I hope you do too! I'd hate to find out what other kinds of "policies" they would come up with it they held my checking, CD or other accounts. Luckily we don't have any other accounts besides the mortgage with HSBC. I hope this is just an issue with this specific branch.
